We
did not get Ren with the intention of showing him. We did so "once" at
his breeder's urging, got a red ribbon and were hooked!
His show
career started out slowly. He grew up slowly and evenly and with the
tremendous handicap of me learning to handle him in the ring as we went
along. With the help of Nanette Johnson, who handled him
with much more style than I was able, we got our first significant
"win" which was actually a Reserve placement.
After that taste of victory, there was no stopping Ren- he finished in a
matter of months and took his majors back to back. I was even able to
get some handling lessons and handle him myself for the last few points. |
A
HUGE reserve win at the Western English Setter Club Specialty |
