What a face! This is Ernest (kind
of has a Hemingway look to him doesn't he?) Sculpted from Prosculpt
clay and featuring Masterpiece eyes in a wonderful ocean blue, Ernest is a
Seafaring Santa. Detail in coloration and skin texture give him a salty look
and make him quite suited to his chosen method of travel.
He would be 29" if standing and is 21" sitting.
Ernie is wearing a hand knit fisherman sweater of
denim style wool yarn. The sweater was made for him by my friend
Shirley. She did a wonderful job and was very careful about getting
every detail "just right." A waffle knit undershirt in deep green
keeps the chill out for our Sailor. Ernie's pants are made of blue
denim. They are cuffed at the legs and even have custom embroidered pockets. |

Travel without the Reindeer
could become lonely, so Santa takes his pal "Skipper" with him. A bit
wary of sea travel, Skipper keeps his life ring on in place of a collar for
safety- the hat is just his personal style touch! |

A wide variety of toys are loaded in Santa's boat en route to good
girls and boys in coastal towns. A sled, teddy, tri-cycle, train, and
of course, a toy boat, are just a few of the treasures the children can look
forward to seeing under the tree.
The toys are tucked in and around a Santa sack with fishing
net tie and trim.
To light his way, a red lantern casts its glow. |

You simply cannot look
at this piece without being completely impressed by the boat. Christened "Wave
Dasher" this 37" long row boat was constructed by hand and without a
pattern. It is an amazing piece of craftsmanship made even more special to
me by the fact that it was my father who built it. He worked from a photo
and a couple of sketches and did such a marvelous job- right down to carving
the oars from a block of wood. |

Correct in every detail, this piece is as much about the
artistry in his wood work as in the sculpting of Santa himself. The
boat name and port of call is painted on the transom with registration
numbers on the bow indicating when port of call and completion date- NP31S03
(North Pole, 31 Sept. O3) A carved wooden reindeer is affixed
to the bow in mast head fashion and the garland gives the piece that festive
holiday mood. The garland is lit with a strand of 150 colored rice
lights with a variety of twinkle and flash options as well as steady on.
Ernie is removable from the boat for storage or
additional display possibilities. |
